After more than a million Maclaren strollers were recalled last week, the government is concerned about the many other umbrella strollers on the market that pose similar amputation risks for children due to their sharp hinges.
While the Maclaren strollers met all federal safety standards, the British company announced that they were recalling the dangerous strollers – which have led to 12 finger amputations over the last decade – because of their own commitment to safety and quality strollers. Now the US Consumer Product Safety Commission is looking into stroller hinges across the board in order to see if there is a larger stroller safety issue that needs to be addressed. Those with Maclaren umbrella strollers have been encouraged to call the company in order to receive a repair kit that contains hinge covers. Those seeking the hinge covers should visit www.maclaren.us/recall or call 877-688-2326 for hinge cover information. Read Article |
