| Icy Roads Cause 70 Accidents Across Virginia |

Virginia has seen an almost unprecedented amount of snow and winter weather this season – and with winter weather comes a significant rise in car accidents and car accident injuries. Although safety officials warned Virginia drivers to stay off the roads unless absolutely necessary, police, EMS, and fire departments found themselves responding to a flurry of 911 calls from drivers involved in car accidents on I-64 in Hampton Roads.
All in all, Virginia State Police say that one icy morning tallied 70 different accidents on an icy stretch of interstate near Hampton Roads – and even emergency vehicles were struggling to tend to vehicle accidents. Luckily, only about ten percent of the accidents involved injuries and no one suffered life-threatening injuries. The westbound lanes of I-64 saw the most wrecks, with several pile-ups and chain-reaction crashes as drivers lost control of their cars on the slick pavement.
